Where to start

These guides follow the lawn through the year. Most of the heavy work lands in spring and fall: aeration, dethatching, overseeding and the main feedings in the fertilizer schedule. Summer is about mowing height and frequency and watching for grubs, and the season closes with sprinkler winterizing.

When a client's lawn is struggling, start with a soil pH test before you change the program. Hardscape jobs sit alongside the turf work: pavers, retaining walls, bed edging and drainage. Most guides link to a matching calculator, so the technique and the material order come from the same page.
